A Psalm of David. When he went in flight from Absalom his son
¹O Lord, how my adversaries have increased!
Many are rising up against me.
²Many are saying of my soul,
“There is no deliverance for him in God.”
³But You, O Lord, are a shield about me,
My glory, and the One who lifts my head.
¹Lord, how greatly are they increased who make attacks on me! In great numbers they come against me. ²Unnumbered are those who say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. ³But your strength, O Lord, is round me, You are my glory and the lifter up of my head.
God is light and life.
And through His word He shows us the way, and gives us light on our path.
Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
And through His word He directs us in the path of righteousness.
It is through the Word of God that we know that when our challenges begin to increase or become intense, that He is near. And it is by His nearness that we can experience that He lifts up our heads.
David found himself in a situation where his enemies had increased,
David found himself in a situation where his enemies boldly declared that there was no help for him.
But David knew that his God was like a shield around him.
He did not trust on his own strength, but on the Lord’s strength.
The Lord was his glory, and he knew that his God would lift him up again
Dear friends, whenever you find yourself in a situation where your challenges seem to overwhelm you, you may trust your God in the same way as David did.
God will never leave His own, and always comfort, and support all who belong to Him.
… He Himself has said,
“I will never desert you,
nor will I ever forsake you,”
Do you already belong to Him?
