Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. Psalm 103:13 (KJV)
Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. Psalms 103:13 (NASB)
Pity and compassion are synonyms and are translated from םחר racham (pronounced as: raw–kham’). This word means: a deep love, having mercy, being compassionate, having tender affection, having compassion.
God doesn’t have this kind of love, pity or compassion for everybody!
Some people may tell you that
▪︎ you can do whatever you want,
▪︎ you can live in the way you like,
for God loves you anyway, but that is not correct, and not according to the scriptures.
This verse tells us clearly that God has compassion on those who fear Him, and to fear God is to hate evil, and to do good.
Proverbs 8:13
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way,
And the perverted mouth, I hate.
So you may safely conclude that in order to receive the compassion of God, you need to fear Him and depart from all sorts of evil.
Those people who…
▪︎ live in the way they like,
▪︎ do whatever they want,
▪︎ wallow in all manner of sins, like a pig rolls about in mud,
▪︎ take God for granted,
▪︎ and think that God loves them anyway.
Have a nasty surprise is waiting for them, when they find out what David also already knew, that God hates all who do iniquity.
Psalms 5:5
The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity.
When you have no reverence for God, you have no grounds on which you can expect His compassion on you.
May you always stay close to your Savior, so His inheritance will be for you too.
