John 10:16 KJV
And other sheep I have,
which are not of this fold:
them also I must bring,
and they shall hear my voice;
and there shall be one fold,
[and] one shepherd.
Devotional
John 10:16 is a text that moves, motivates, and inspires the Church in her mission in this world.
The Good Shepherd is speaking.
He Who knows His sheep by name.
He Who lays down His life for them.
He has other sheep that He has yet to bring in as well.
In this work of adding to the church, the church may find its “reason of existence”, enjoy the joy of the Lord and feel inspired with holy zeal of the Spirit.
This word is still being fulfilled.
It was not over after Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Nor when the apostle John died of old age.
What is the special power of this word?
▪︎ To begin with: the knowledge that these are sheep that Jesus already has.
It’s about His own, about His chosen ones.
▪︎ Second, because they will hear His voice.
We don’t have to yell or use violence.
The Word and the Spirit exercise this violence.
No one can turn Him and no one will snatch them out of His hand.
