Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace
The angels, in the fields of Ephratha, have expressed exactly what Christmas is al about. The glory of God
The late Rev. F. Bakker says in one of his sermons about this text:
We would have put the cart before the horse, if we should have said this.
Rev. F. Bakker
We would have started with ourselves.
First we would mention that God is well pleased with us
and then mention peace on earth
and finally (if at all) honor be to God.
But the angels started as they should.
After all, isn’t it all about God’s honor?
In paradise we have robbed God of His honor. And now, this Child in the manger, will restore the honor of God. He will return the honor to His Father. Perfect and complete.
The honor of God was taken away, but this Child returns it. And because this Child is given by the Lord, it is: “Glory to God in the highest.”
Can you sing it along?
Yes, but only if it is sung in truth.
Because you must remember: It should not be just a few words that come out of your mouth; it must be genuine, and it must be the truth within you!
