Psalms 113:3
From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised. Psalm 113:3 (KJV)
Praising is expressing a warm approval or admiration; or expressing one’s respect and gratitude.
We can’t praise the Christ enough, for His work was both complete and brilliant; but praising God is not repeatedly saying “I praise You Lord” or “I honor you Lord”. Praising God is talking, telling, or singing about His great deeds.
▪︎ When someone says “I praise God for His blessings”, he is not really praising God, but he is telling those around him that he does. And when he says “I praise you Lord” he is still not praising God, but he is showing his gratitude towards God.
▪︎ In a similar way saying or singing “Hallelujah” is not praising the Lord, but encouraging others to praise the Lord. (The meaning of “Hallelujah” is “Praise ye the Lord”)
▪︎ And also in a similar way, you may hear people say or sing “Hosanna”. This too is not praising or honoring the Lord, but calling on Him for help. (As “Hosanna” means “I pray save us”, or “save us now”)
Praising someone or something is saying or writing good things about someone or something. So we praise God when we testify of the things He has done for us, and when we express thanks to Him, or love and respect Him.
I hope you understand now, that to praise God, you don’t have to join the praise and worship team in your church. You don’t even have to be in a church. You’re able to testify of the great works of God anywhere.
Let me clarify: When you were visiting a theater and you saw there an actor giving a great performance. You will talk about it, and doing so, every time again you will praise the actor.
You don’t need to back to the theater, to praise him, and you certainly will not go to that actor to say “I praise you”.
You praised him every time you talked about him.
If you have never spoken of the great works of God,
You have never praised Him!
Why didn’t you?
Are you ashamed for Him?
That is serious!
For Jesus said in Mark 8:38
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.
From the moment we open our eyes in the morning, till the moment we lay down again to rest; from the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised. (Psalms 113:3)
