Matthew 2:15 NASB
He remained there until the death of Herod.
This was to fulfill what had been spoken
by the Lord through the prophet:
“Out of Egypt I called My Son.”
Devotional
Out of Egypt I have called my Son.
Joseph and Mary have to flee with the child to Egypt. For the child is threatened by Herod’s sword.
An episode from the battle of the serpent’s seed against the woman’s seed. So with this Child you will end up in oppression.
Sometimes already shortly after you decided to follow Him.
That looks like a setback, for many had imagined it so differently.
Luckily the Child is coming along. The Child even takes precedence.
He has been in Egypt, in the land of slavery.
To deliver people who could not free themselves.
Every Sunday in many churches God’s holy law sounds: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.”
That is completely true thanks to Him Who has been in Egypt.
And when the Son shall have set you free, then shall ye be free indeed.
