Mark 10:47 AV
And when he heard
that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to cry out, and say,
Jesus, thou Son of David,
have mercy on me.
Devotional
As His suffering approaches, it becomes all the more clear Who Jesus is.
That has long been hidden from many.
Mark strongly emphasizes it in his gospel.
But now it appears that Christ is the promised Savior.
Bartimaeus, the blind beggar, sees more of it than all the sighted around him.
When Jesus passes by, he calls on Him. He takes his chance. He constantly prays for the mercy of the Son of David, the Messiah sent by God.
He is thus an example to us.
Bartimaeus is serious about his need.
He values Jesus’ passing.
That’s why he calls on Him.
Whenever the Word opens, Christ passes by in our life.
Did you need Him already enough to cry for a solution?
