Jesus was born to set us free, and to restore our relationship with the Father.
Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men
with whom He is pleased.
God’s honor and the salvation of the people are closely linked.
If God does not come to His honor, it is impossible that even one person could ever live in His community. People knew and know this, yet man chooses to go his own way, without God, and increase for themselves the terrible consequences of their choice.
God Himself took care of His honor.
The angels have said it, in the fields of Ephratha.
These holy servants of God marveled with astonishment when they saw the Son of God laid down by a woman in a manger, like a child of man.
God’s Son did not take the nature of angels, but humans.
There, for the first time since Adam, was another man who was truly an image of the Creator.
They have announced this great miracle.
▪︎ In Heaven, with the Father, the thoughts of peace for people arose.
▪︎ In Heaven, with the Father, the plan of redemption for peace for men has been developed.
▪︎ And here on earth, with the people, this plan of redemption for the people was soon to be worked out.
Their voices will also be heard later through the redemption of lost sinners.
The redeemed church will glorify God at the highest level, through the song of Moses and of the Lamb.
The foundation for that song was laid in that poor stable, in the gift of God’s Son.
