For unto you is born this day
in the city of David a Saviour,
which is Christ the Lord.
Yes, something special happened in the town of David (Bethlehem).
Someone very special was born.
He is the one who will save you.
He is the Messiah .
He is the Lord .
God immediately announces the birth of His Son.
This day… God informed the shepherds the same evening.
God could not have announced it any faster.
Unto you is born!
Not: We gladly inform you about the birth of our child…
No: He’s here for you! Jesus has been made available to us.
You could almost say, that He was there like a foundling in a manger.
He came to earth to be found! God exposed Himself in that stable.
Did you already find Him?
Who was born? The Savior!
This designation refers correctly to Him because He is!
Where can he be found?
Sometimes you see on a birth announcement: Temporary address the maternity ward of the hospital. Here the temporary address is a stable.
We would not choose a stable for a nursery. We don’t consider this a suitable place, but whatever you want to say about it, a stable is in any way accessible to everyone.
A birth announcement sometimes also has as a silent hint: ‘Mother and child are resting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.’ But with the born savior there are no fixed visiting hours, there are no times when it is less convenient if you want to come to Him. You are welcome day and night.
You cannot receive a birth announcement, see it as just an other notification, and not react. You will have to respond. You will call the parents. You will write a card. Or you will pay a visit.
Anyway you have to respond… And that is certainly necessary with this birth!
No, you don’t have to bring anything. You may come empty-handed. Only … Give Him your heart!
