Luke 1:77
To give His people the knowledge of salvation,
in the forgiveness of their sins
A further explanation of the word “salvation” is given here with the words “In forgiveness of their sins.”
After all, sin separates God and our soul!
That makes it ‘disastrous’ for us.
Sin takes us away to an eternally dark night, to the pool burning of fire and sulphur. Most people do not like to hear this, but they are realities of which the Bible also speaks.
Sins get in the way in a gigantic way.
They prevent us from coming into the presence of God; for they offend God’s majesty.
Because we cannot take away sin ourselves, the Father has provided our salvation in the Messiah.
Jesus carried away sin in His body.
Salvation can only be obtained through the forgiveness of sin.
▪︎ No person can take it away.
▪︎ No person is able to pay the debt that caused by from sin.
We need someone who can do this for us.
That One is Jesus, the Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed One.
Only He can forgive us, through the blood sacrifice He brought at the cross.
When we speak of liberation, many think of World War II, when we were liberated from oppression by the allied forces.
But what a liberation it is, when there is no longer an obstacle in going to God, when we can go to Him freely. How much richer and wider it is, when God forgives us our sin. Then there is nothing standing in the way between God and a lost sinner. That is real salvation.
