Psalms 106:6
We have sinned like our fathers, We have committed iniquity, we have behaved wickedly.
This verse is a confession of sin.
No matter from which side we look at it, or how we approach it, we cannot do anything else than acknowledge that the Lord has done right, and we have done wrong.
▪︎ We all stand guilty before God.
▪︎ We have all trespassed His laws.
▪︎ We all need to repent.
And if He did not save us for his own name’s sake, and to the praise of his power and grace, we should all perish.
Sin is nothing new.
The Scriptures allow us to see the stupidities and rebelliousness of God’s people in the past.
But although we had their bad example, and saw the consequences of it, we all do the same things, personally as well as country-wise.
Like them, our countries, as well as we personally, lost opportunities, and like they brought disasters over themselves, blind as we are, we do the same too.
It is good to remind ourselves how little difference there often is between them and us.
Like them we really need God, and His forgiveness.
