John 10:11-16
¹¹”I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. ¹²He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. ¹³He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. ¹⁴I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD, and I know My own and My own know Me, ¹⁵even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. ¹⁶I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.
What a great good it is to know that our Lord knows each of us.
You will know the president or king of your country, but that doesn’t mean that much. Of much more value it is, when the king or the president would say: ” I know <your name>.
Some will tell you. “I know him well, I even shook hands with him”. But that doesn’t mean anything! Does he know you?
The Lord of lords, and King of kings knows you personally! (Vs. 14)
He doesn’t just know your name, but He knows you inside out.
He even knows you better than you know yourself.
And He has laid down His life for us. (Vs. 15)
He died for us, so we may now live for Him.
2 Corinthians 5:15 — He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.
Jesus spoke these words to the Jews around Him. And the other sheep (His flock from among the gentiles, that is us) which are not of this fold (not belonging to the Jews); I must bring them also, and they (those who belong to Him) will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.
I have once seen how people were standing at the side of the road calling sheep that were grazing further on in the meadow. No matter how they called or whistled the sheep gave no attention at all.
Then the shepherd arrived. He called only once and his sheep recognized his voice and came to him. But not all came, when I asked him about that, he told me: “They are not mine; they don’t recognize my voice when I call”.
Jesus said “I know My own and My own know Me” (vs. 14).
Do you already know Him?
Will you come when he calls you?
Do you already belong to His flock?
If not, than start following Him today!
