Romans 6:1-2
¹What shall we say then? ARE WE TO CONTINUE IN SIN so that grace may increase? ²May it never be! HOW SHALL WE WHO DIED TO SIN STILL LIVE IN IT?
After you turned to the Christ.
After you decided to follow Him, and repented of your sins, you are so DISGUSTED of your sins that it became IMPOSSIBLE for you to CONTINUE to live in sin, to CONTINUE to live as you did before.
Does that mean that Christians never sin again?
We all would wish it literally was like that, but sometimes someone may slip and fall on the narrow way he is walking.
But unlike it was before, there is NO PLEASURE in it anymore, and it gives them afterwards a BAD FEELING.
After sinning you not only FEEL wounded, you spiritually ARE wounded by it. But a great difference is, that you now know where to get FORGIVENESS and HEALING.
You want to live and you choose for life when you choose to follow Jesus.
The Bible says in Romans 6:23 that “the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”.
By sinning we again give dominion over our lives to satan and death.
So if it happens that you slip and fall, go immediately to Jesus and confess your sins, and ask for forgiveness.
Sin, and the stumbling blocks that satan puts in your way may sometimes appear to you like strongholds, like fortresses, or like fortified cities.
But God says to you in 2 Kings 19:25 “Have you not heard? Long ago I did it; From ancient times I planned it. Now I have brought it to pass, That you should turn fortified cities into ruinous heaps”.
So never let these things bring you down for Romans 8:37 tells us that “in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us”.
In our own strength we cannot do anything against sin or satan. We also cannot do anything in our own strength against death as result of our sins.
For our salvation we really need Jesus, and for taking a stand against the powers of darkness we need His power working through us.
God’s word gives us a warning and a promise: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23)
So let’s no longer focus on a defeated enemy, but let our eyes be on Jesus, and Jesus alone.
