Mark 12:7 AV
But those husbandmen¹ said among themselves²,
This is the heir³;
come, let us kill him,
and the inheritance shall be ours.
¹) A husbandman, tiller of the soil, a vine dresser.
²) To the advantage of themselves, by themselves, with regard to themselves.
³) One who receives his allotted possession by right of sonship.
Other translations
But those tenants said to one another, Here is the heir; come on, let us put him to death, and [then] the inheritance will be ours. [AMP]
But those tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ [ESV]
“But those farmhands saw their chance. They rubbed their hands together in greed and said, “This is the heir! Let’s kill him and have it all for ourselves.’ [MSB]

Devotional
The son is killed by the wicked husbandmen.
They have made that determination.
When they kill him, the vineyard will be theirs they thought.
No sooner said than done. They throw the dead body out of the vineyard.
It is done, and now they can work for themselves they thought.
But they didn’t think about the owner.
For the lord of the vineyard comes, and finds that his son is killed!
At that time the lord destroys the husbandmen, and the lord gives the vineyard to others.
The meaning of this is obvious.
▪︎ The Christ came to His own and His own did not receive Him, but crucified and killed Him.
▪︎ The Lord has given the vineyard of clean wine, the vineyard of the Gospel, to the Gentiles.
And now the lesson comes to us.
Paul is warning the Gentiles.
Now watch what you do with the Son!
For if he did not spare the natural branches, will he spare you?
Don’t you believe that!
There are two ways: accept Him or reject Him.
There is no third way.
You may want that, but it is not there.
