Micah 5:4 KJV
And he shall stand and feed (rule)
in the strength of the Lord,
in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God;
and they shall abide: for now shall he be great
unto the ends of the earth.
And this ruler will stay strong because the Lord will make him strong. He will supply what his people need. He will be like a man who supplies everything for his sheep. He will rule with authority from the Lord his God, and his people will be safe. So then, all over the world, people will know that he is great.

He shall stand
He shall stand, that is, persevere: implying the endurance of His kingdom [CALVIN].
His pastoral care, as a shepherd stands to survey and guard His flock on every side Isaiah 61:5).
Feed
Feed that is, rule. The Greek word similarly in Matthew 2:6, means both “feed” and “rule” (Isaiah 40:11, 49:10, Ezekiel 34:23; compare 2 Samuel 5:2 , 7:8).
In the majesty of the name of the Lord
In the majesty of the name of the Lord means that He is possessing the majesty of all of Yahweh’s revealed attributes (“name”) (Isaiah 11:2, Philippians 2:6,9, Hebrews 2:7-9).
His God
God is “His God” in a oneness of relation distinct from the sense in which God is our God (John 20:17).
They shall abide
The Israelites (“they,” namely, the returning remnant and the children of Israel previously in Canaan) shall dwell in permanent security and prosperity (Micah 4:4, Isaiah 14:30).
Unto the ends of the earth
(Micah 4:1, Psalms 72:8, Zechariah 9:10).

Micah shows us here how the promised Savior is clothed with royal glory. His kingship will not be characterized by roughness, exploitation, or arbitrariness. No, He will be like a Shepherd. All His conduct will be characterized by pastoral love, and pastoral faithfulness: He will stand and feed in the power of the Lord!
Isn’t all of this wonderfully fulfilled in Christ?
As the good Shepherd, He gave His life for the sheep.
And even after His death on the cross, resurrection and ascension, He continues to watch over His flock as a faithful Shepherd.
Where you learned to bow under His scepter, we may tell you: He sees you. He knows about your joy, but also about your sorrow. He watches over you when dangers are imminent. Yes, from heaven He stands and shepherds in the power of the Lord.
Also today. What a wonderful miracle.
And He does not rest until He has brought all His sheep into the eternal sheepfold…!
And you, who are still wandering on your own paths, bend your knee today, so that you will not perish forever, but that you may also share in that pastoral care.
