Psalm 146:1
Praise ye the LORD.
“Praise ye the LORD” is the English translation for “hallelujah!”.
So when we say or sing “hallelujah” we are not praising the Lord as many think, but we are calling on the others to praise the Lord.
The word “alleluia” comes from the Greek αλληλουια allelouia (pronounced as: al-lay-loo’-ee-ah) which is the Greek translation from Hebrew origin literally meaning “praise ye Jah”.
