The Christ says that He did not come to bring peace to the earth, but a sword.
Where He comes in truth into the heart and life, contradictions arise.
▪︎ Then the sinful peace with the devil, the world and iniquity is disturbed.
▪︎ Then there is the urge to warn.
After all, the eye has been opened by God to Himself, to sin, to eternity. When spoken of, it arouses the wrath of hell.
Truth breeds opposition, purity breeds enmity.
It can give so much opposition to housemates when a man or woman is converted. The most violent enmity often arises because of religion.
But whatever happens, whatever quarrel arises, though the house should become a lion’s den, yet there must be a coming out for the Lord and His Word.
The bond to Him is beyond the tightest and tenderest bonds of blood and love on this earth. God’s children begin to understand something: their own becomes strange and strange becomes their own.
To have housemates against you is bad.
But remember: To have the Lord is with you is everything.
