Matthew 6:20 NASB
Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust destroys,
and where thieves do not break in or steal
Devotional
Many are dominated by an insatiable desire for earthly possessions.
▪︎ They spend all their time on that.
▪︎ They devote all their energies to it.
What an effort is made to gather earthly treasures.
Money is often the highest good and stinginess reigns.
But they are perishable treasures: the moth and the rust can destroy them, and the thieves can break in and steal it from you.
They are perishable and uncertain possessions.
Would you like to think that way too?
Or do you want to serve God and Mammon?
Blessed are those who are turned from serving mammon, who may lay up treasures in heaven, who may seek the kingdom of God and all that flows therefrom.
Their treasures are kept in heaven.
It cannot be taken from them by anything.
Some of those treasures may be experienced in this life.
But the full inheritance is in the future.
Calamity will be the portion of those who continue to lay up treasures on the earth.
