Matthew 5:22 NASB
But I say to you that everyone
who is angry with his brother
shall be guilty before the court;
and whoever says to his brother,
‘You good-for-nothing,’
shall be guilty before the supreme court;
and whoever says, ‘You fool,’
shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.
Devotional
To be charged with adultery and murder.
That is quite something. What do you think of us?
Should Nathan keep silent with his prophetic word to David?
But then I see Jesus come forward with His prophetic words: “But I say unto you, Whosoever is angry with his brother unjustly, shall be punished in judgment.”
And just a little further, “But I say unto you, Whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery in his heart with her.”
You who have been kept from murder and adultery, have your words and intents and thoughts been as pure and clean as your hands?
Who can stand when the prophetic word shines through us?
You are that man! You are guilty!
What remains?
Confession, also with regard to the sixth and seventh commandments.
