Matthew 3:12 NASB
His winnowing fork is in His hand,
and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor;
and He will gather His wheat into the barn,
but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
Devotional
He will gather His wheat into the barn.
The farmer cleans the threshing floor. Watch him busy when he is with the heap of wheat.
With the winnowing fork he continually throws a part upwards. The wind takes the chaff and straw and carries them until they reach the edge. But the heavier grain falls more directly down in a heap.
After all, it is all about the wheat.
He gathers the wheat in the barn.
It has value to him.
So the Christ also separates His inheritance.
It is not hidden from Him what wheat is.
It has been His own work, that by His Spirit barren sinners have been made fruitful.
You must notice that here is spoken of His wheat.
It is the fruit that is His and that is for Him.
Those who in truth bear fruit from God often fear not to be wheat.
They have so much that speaks against it.
The wheat grain ripens through all kinds of circumstances. Sun and wind are used for it.
It remains the miracle in the lives of God’s children that they are His wheat. Through the afflictions so that for themselves and for others more and more comes out. See ultimately there is an eternal future in His barn.
