Singing during the night is an exception. Few people will come to that. When it is night, a person sleeps. At least that’s the normal course of events.
And now we only talk about the night in nature. But there can also be other dark periods in a human life.
Dark as the night.
For example in times of illness.
You, who are reading this now, will probably know about this from experience.
You may even be sick at this moment.
Perhaps only recently, and you hope to be well again soon. But it could also be that you have been tied to your bed or house for a long time because of your illness. Perhaps even without much prospect that things will soon change.
Then it can be very dark in your life.
You may find it difficult to spot a bright spot anywhere.
To sing a song in such a situation is more than you can afford. I fully understand that.
Through this text I now just fall in on you, and I want to let you know that I sympathize with you. With this text I want to give you, as it were, a handshake for encouragement, and at the same time try to shed some light on your gloomy existence.
The light is still shining, only you can hardly see it or not at all.
I therefore want to point out to you the Lord Jesus, who could rightly say: “I am the light of the world”.
And He added, “He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
My wish is that you will know and experience this light in the darkness of your existence. It will change your life. Then, in spite of your pain, your loneliness, and whatever may be, instead of sadness, a peace and joy will enter your heart that you had not thought possible until now.
May He put a new song in your mouth, a song of praise to your God.
May many see and fear and trust in the Lord.
