The call to watchfulness, to stay awake, is most common in the Bible.
The danger of falling asleep is apparently not imaginary.
How can this happen to us?
Well we can tell ourselves, or each other,
▪︎ that things are not going to happen that soon,
▪︎ that first a lot of things still have to happen,
▪︎ that we still have time enough,
▪︎ and that when things start to happen, they will absolutely not be as bad as the Bible says.
These all are lies that will lull you asleep!
Watch..! Watch and pray..!
Because you don’t know when it is the time.
It will come when you least expect it.
Jesus says it is just like someone who makes his servants look after his house. Imagine that he coming back and finds his servants sleeping. They could only be ashamed. Isn’t that much more true in view of the last day?
Also think about the five foolish virgins
No one knows when it will be except the Father.
But you have to be aware of it.
Jesus said: “And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
