Mark 12:08 AV
And they took him,
and killed him,
and cast him out of the vineyard.
Devotional
This is a picture that the Jews understood.
The prophets have often compared Israel to “the vineyard of the Lord,” who did all, so it would grow good fruit.
But despite the fact that the Lord has always sent His messengers to receive “the lease,” no fruit has been given. Yes, those emissaries and prophets have been mistreated and killed many times.
And finally the Lord sends His Son. But they took Him and killed Him, nailed Him to the cross and cast Him out of the vineyard.
The Lord Jesus told this parable to the Jews.
And what must be the result of all this?
Well, the judgment is coming, the husbandmen will be killed.
It is a clear sermon that will soon be fulfilled.
How necessary it is that we examine our own lives
▪︎ Are there any fruits in our life?
▪︎ Are those fruits also to the glory of God?
▪︎ And do we also give that fruit to God?
▪︎ Do we give Him the credit of all we are, and have?
Or …
▪︎ Do we also throw the Son out of “our” vineyard?
▪︎ Do we also not listen to His voice?
When it is like this with us …
What else can we expect than judgment?
And still you think it is strange that all these things happen in the world?
Turn to Him, only He is the Savior Who will really give you life.
