In the guestbook of a guest house, a guest had written:
“Health is the greatest treasure.
With a little sunshine … That’s how I had it here! “
But another had written underneath:
“Health with good weather is only half;
then you have nothing more than a healthy calf! “
Yes, that last guest understood that a human being is more than a refined animal.
What am I saying?
Anyone who calls himself a noble animal does not know his own heart.
Because:
²¹For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, ²²deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. ²³All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man.”
That’s what the Bible, the Word of God, says in Mark 7:21-23
If man was good there would be no war.
But now the good News that we can bring you: God wants to give us, wants to give you, a new, ‘healthy’ heart! God wants to make anyone, who wishes it, a new person, even a new creation.
It looks like a fairytale. But God says it in the Bible, and many have experienced it.
“But,” you say, “Maybe.., My experience is that you can’t trust Christians either.”
And you are right. There is oh so much false Christianity!
And also, there is no grain without chaff.
That is why the Gospel is a very personal matter.
Do you want to wash off the past, make a whole new start, a whole new beginning?
Don’t try it again yourself; that always goes wrong …
Consider the death on the cross of the Christ.
He suffered and died.
He was the Clean, the Innocent, He had only done good.
He died in order to be able to give you true life through His death, and resurrection.
Do you have worries, sorrows, miseries?
Do you recognize that you are guilty before God for your sins?
Then He will forgive you everything, on the basis of Christ’s Cross.
Then a great burden falls off you.
That is the beginning of a new, happy, and eternal life.
