Mark 3:35
For whoever does the will of God,
he is My brother and sister and mother.
One time the Lord Jesus is preaching in a house.
Then people come to Him and say, Your mother and your brothers are looking for you.
They are outside and cannot get through to Him themselves because of the crowds, and therefore ask Him to come out.
But we know about those brethren that they didn’t believe in Him at that time.
And now the Lord Jesus points to the crowd that surrounds Him, saying, “He that doeth the will of God, the same is my brother and sister and mother.”
The Lord wants to say that there is of course a bond of blood relationship and that we have to uphold it. We may and must love them and stand in the gap for them.
But when it comes down to it, spiritual relationship is higher than natural relationship.
Whoever loves father or mother, wife or husband more than Him, is not worthy of Him. But whoever by grace recognizes the Lord as the highest and first in his life will be recognized by Him as His next of kin.
For them he paid the price that made them children of his father, and through him they became heirs of God and joint heirs with him.
