Joel 2:14
Who knows whether He will not turn and relent
And leave a blessing behind Him,
Even a grain offering and a drink offering
For the Lord your God?
Who knows, that’s what we sometimes say, especially when we don’t know and are unsure.
▪︎ Who knows (maybe), I’ll visit you again.
▪︎ And who knows (maybe), I will bring something for you.
But things are different here.
Here the ‘who knows’ wants to point out that God’s grace can not be taken for granted.
And that He is not obliged to show us His mercy.
Did you still think that? Then it is high time that you learn that we cannot assert any rights.
And when God proclaims His Name in our life in Christ Jesus, He does not do it for our sake, but He does it to glorify Himself in it.
But therefore His grace also wonders in the heart of the sinner, so that he may say: through You, through You alone, Lord, for Your good pleasure!
