Joel 2:12
“Yet even now,” declares the Lord,
“Return to Me with all your heart,
And with fasting, weeping and mourning;
How often people would have been thinking and talking, but also worrying about conversion to God? And how often would the concern have entered their heart: could that conversion ever be a reality in my life?
This is because they have been taught wrongly that repentance and turning back to God must be given to them by God.
And now it is so simple in our text.
Turn to Me, says the Lord.
And the people, to whom this is said, do not have to ask: what do you mean? Because they know. And we too know it deep in our hearts.
That true conversion has everything to do with returning; with returning to the God we had left.
There is wonderous secret in this:
Following on your decision to follow the Christ, your conversion to God, the running away from ourselves, and approaching to the Lord Jesus, to the Christ, the life of the Christian, the life of following the Christ is worked out in your life by the Holy Spirit.
