John 1:4-5
⁴In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. ⁵The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
When you are on the road at an interjection, you need to know which direction you have to go.
▪︎ Chosing the wrong direction will, if you don’t turn around, bring you to the wrong destination.
▪︎ In the same way, making the right choice, and chosing the right direction will, iòf you don’t turn around, bring you to the right destination.
You need light to see where you are going, and you need life to be able to go.
From what we just read we know that in Him is life, and that the life is the Light of men. (vs. 4)
So…
▪︎where there is no life,
▪︎where there is no light, there is darkness.
Or in other words, darkness is nothing else but the absence of light and life.
As God is both, light and live, the very first thing He did in creation was bringing light on this dark earth, followed by bringing life on this still dead earth.
Genesis 1:3
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Doing so He brought something of Himself to this planet.
We all know what happened.
Mankind choose to live in sin and darkness, hoping that that darkness would cover their sins.
But then Jesus Christ came into this world as the Light of the world, He let us know again that God is Light.
And that where light appears, darkness has to go, and by that, reality will be exposed. Also the reality of the sinful state where people live in.
The Light of Christ shone, and is still shining, into the darkness, but the darkness, did not, and still does not, understand it.
And likewise those who lived in the darkness did not, and those who live today in darkness, still do not comprehend, what is happening.
In the same time, this is also the reason why the world hates the Gospel, and those who preach it, because
▪︎ it exposes their sins,
▪︎ and it exposes who they are following,
▪︎ and what direction they are going.
From the time you are born again, born from above, you also become the light of the world.
Matthew 5:14
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Just shine your light into this dark world. No matter how small your light may be.
Remember, wherever there is light, darkness has to go, for darkness is no more than the absence of light.
