Hebrews 10:26-27 (KJV)
²⁶For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
This Bible verse apparently coused some confusion in the group.
The sin this Bible verse speaks about is a total and final falling away.
When someone, with a full and fixed will and resolution,
▪︎ despise and reject the Christ, the only Saviour;
▪︎ despise and resist the Holy Spirit, the only Sanctifier;
▪︎ and despise and renounce the gospel, the only way of salvation, and the words of eternal life.
▪︎ When someone despises, rejects and renounces the Godhead and all that was done for him, and sticks to that. Jesus’s sacrifice for sins does not count for him anymore.
These verses show us the fearful and hopeless way, which is before them, who willingly and knowingly rejected God’s plan of salvation after they first surrendered to the Christ; working in their consciences, with despair of being able to endure or to escape it.
What punishment can be sorer than to die without mercy?
It is to die by mercy, by the mercy and grace which they have despised.
How dreadful is the case, when not only the justice of God, but his abused grace and mercy call for vengeance!
All this does not in the least mean, that any souls who have sorrow for their sin, and truly repent, will be shut out from mercy.
Or that any will be refused the benefit of Christ’s sacrifice, who are willing to accept these blessings.
Anyone at who sincerely comes unto the Christ, will in no way be cast out.
