Question
Hi sir. Just wanted advice from you.
How can I , manage to be able to commit myself in reading and studying the word of God.
Coz every time I , try to start committing to reading the bible. I often loose my focus and commitment to be able to read the bible. So I end up spending weeks not . Opening up my bible. And it makes me sad and disappointed at myself, and how other believers know some chapters and verses by head . But when they ask me about a certain chapter or verse in the bible. I’d feel like I’m dumb coz I have no knowledge of the bible.
Coz I can’t commit
Answer
How can I , manage to be able to commit myself in reading and studying the word of God.
- For reading the word you can make it a habit to first ask God to open His word to you and after that read every morning a small portion of the Bible and then think it over about what it means for you.
- About studying the word it is good to reserve some more time, and use something with an explanation next to the Bible. You could by example use the devotionals and studies etc. on this website, or a study Bible.
In both cases prayer is important, as well as taking time for it.
Coz every time I , try to start committing to reading the bible. I often loose my focus and commitment to be able to read the bible.
It takes some discipline to do what you want.
When opening the Bible, the devil is ready to take your thoughts away from it.
That too is a reason to pray beforehand.
So I end up spending weeks not . Opening up my bible. And it makes me sad and disappointed at myself, and how other believers know some chapters and verses by head .
By not opening your Bible the value of what is in there will not come to you
But when they ask me about a certain chapter or verse in the bible. I’d feel like I’m dumb coz I have no knowledge of the bible.
As I said “It takes some discipline to do what you want.”
The knowledge comes by reading and studying, allowing God to fill you with His knowledge.
