1 Samuel 18:3
Then Jonathan and David made a covenant,
because he loved him as his own soul.
Devotional
Jonathan, is the eldest son of King Saul; the crown prince of Israel.
Saul’s success left a mark on his son’s life.
He glorified when his dad was sung.
But when he got older, he got an eye for everything that happened at home, and at court. That rising tension between father Saul and Samuel, the prophet of the LORD.
Jonathan noticed that it wasn’t right on Father’s side.
More and more he saw the debased image of his father.
Saul’s hot-tempered, irascible nature.
A deeply distrustful, closed, gloomy person. More and more difficult to approach.
Children’s eyes see clearly and children’s ears hear well.
Let’s take that to heart as educators!
If we want to be authorities, and in God’s name we have to be, then we really have to have something to say.
Not only in our speech, but also in our actions, we must lead our children as shepherds to Him, who is the Good Shepherd.
Questions
- How did Saul speak about Samuel and about David in the family circle?
- How do we speak of others?
