‘Repent’ means ‘turn around’.
The Greek expression speaks of a change of mind, though not merely intellectual, but including a change of purpose and disposition.
It speaks of a complete change, namely of repentance for the sins of the old life and reverence and awe for the God of the new life.
Kingdom of Heaven
The ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ does not mean the universal, ever-present kingship of God, but the Messianic kingdom of peace, announced by the prophets, and promised by God (see especially Isaiah 2:2-5; Daniel 2:44-45; and Micah 4:1-5).
