Philippians 2:8-9 NASB
⁸Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. ⁹For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name
Devotional
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Once in a place where I worked, we had a boss who was one among us.
He never ordered us around.
He worked quietly along with us.
He said “please” when he wanted something done.
Whatever he asked us to do, any of us did gladly.
He was loved and honored by everyone in the office.
Daily his spirit and actions reminded me of the Christ.
▪︎ Jesus made Himself of no reputation.
▪︎ He took upon Himself the form of a servant;
▪︎ He humbled Himself.
▪︎ He became obedient, even to sacrificing His very life on the cross.
Wherefore God highly exalted Him.
If we humble ourselves, learning of the Christ Who was meek and lowly of heart, we earn respect, love, and trust of God and men.
Even then, the humble of heart give God the honor and glory, due to Him, for in ourselves we are unprofitable servants.
Prayer suggestion
As we know that the servant is not greater than his Master, let us
▪︎ Ask our heavenly Father to cast out our pride and clothe us in humility, and to implant the mind of Jesus in us.
▪︎ Though Jesus was reviled, He blessed others;
▪︎ though threatened, He healed the afflicted.
