Mark 10:27 AV
And Jesus looking upon them saith,
With men it is impossible,
but not with God:
for with God all things are possible.
Who then can be saved?
That was a question with which the disciples came to the Lord Jesus.
And to this question the Savior gives an honest answer.
They should not think that by their own virtues or achievements they would ever be able attain salvation. Because with man it is impossible to be saved.
There is nothing in man, absolutely nothing at all, that asks for the Lord.
When a person starts to ask about Jesus, and about God, it is all based on the Lord, who through His Spirit has made a hunger for Him grow.
Yes, that very beginning is also His.
Today we are confronted not only with our unwillingness, but also with our incompetence. Someone may be weighed down by both. Whatever he wants or does, he finds over and over again, that it is impossible from his perspective to be saved.
How wonderful that we can then say to that person that all things are possible with the Lord. Even that a sinful man like you and I repent, change his mind, and go the other way; no longer goes the way that leads to destruction, but now taking up the cross, chooses the narrow way to God’s Kingdom.
A person can despair of much, and most of all of himself.
▪︎ However, never doubt the ALMIGHT of the Lord,
▪︎ However, never doubt the ABILITY of Him to help you.
▪︎ However, never doubt the WILL of Him to help you.
When you ask the Lord, know that the Lord likes to help those for whom it is absolutely impossible to help themselves.
