Micah 7:8 KJV
Rejoice not against me,
O mine enemy:
when I fall, I shall arise;
when I sit in darkness,
the Lord shall be a light unto me.
My enemy, do not be happy because I am in trouble. I have fallen down, but I will get up. I am in the dark, but the Lord will be a light to me.

Rejoice not
Rejoice not over my falling.
When I fall, I shall arise
(Psalms 37:24, Proverbs 24:16).
When I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light
Israel reasons as her divine representative, Messiah, reasoned by faith in His hour of darkness and desertion (Isaiah 50:7,8,10 ). Israel addresses Babylon, her triumphant foe (or Edom), as a female; the type of her last and worst foes (Psalms 137:7,8 ). “Mine enemy,” in Hebrew, is feminine.

The Lord will be a light to me.
We heard Micah say he is waiting and looking forward to the salvation of God.
When he says this, it simultaneously means that he is still in the dark at that moment.
Apparently his opponents have reminded him delicately.
Everything around Micah contradicts what he hopes.
▪︎ He sits in the dark, but speaks of the light.
▪︎ He is in the midst of death, but speaks of life.
▪︎ He falls again and again, but speaks of rising.
“You’re waiting for it, but you don’t have it yet Micah,” his opponents say. “You just have to wait and see if you ever get it.”
But then Micaiah says, “When I am in the dark, the LORD is my light”. I already own that by faith. That light is not a thing of the future, but God is already a light to me now. Because I have God’s promise.
In the midst of death, I am alive. As a cross bearer behind Jesus, I live from the resurrection.
They are exciting contrasts in the life of the believer.
But the fact that God is already our light now gives us the strength to endure.
