There should be some social control within the church. I don’t mean within the building, but within the body of Christ.
When one member sees an other do something that is not right, he should warn him in love. I mean: not tear him down or put shame on him publicly so his only remaining choice is leaving. The purpose/goal should be to win him back into the body of Christ.
Further we should correct each other in the way the Bible teaches us in Matthew 18:14-17
(14) So it is NOT the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones PERISH. (15) “If your brother sins, go and SHOW HIM HIS FAULT IN PRIVATE; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. (16) But if he does not listen to you, take ONE OR TWO more with you, so that by the mouth of TWO OR THREE WITNESSES every fact may be confirmed. (17) If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to THE CHURCH; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a GENTILE and a TAX COLLECTOR.
In 2 Timothy 2:24-26 we read that (24) The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be KIND TO ALL, ABLE TO TEACH, PATIENT when wronged, (25) WITH GENTLENESS CORRECTING those who are in opposition, if PERHAPS GOD MAY GRANT THEM REPENTANCE leading to the knowledge of the truth, (26) and they may COME TO THEIR SENSES and ESCAPE from the snare of the devil, having BEEN HELD CAPTIVE by him to do his will.
Once appointed in a function we read in Ezekiel 33:2-9 that God also wants the watchman to give a warning when He says so, and if he doesn’t God keeps him responsible.
(2) “Son of man, speak to the sons of your people and say to them, ‘If I bring a sword upon a land, and the people of the land take one man from among them and make him their watchman (3) and he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows on the trumpet and warns the people, (4) then he who hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, and a sword comes and takes him away, HIS BLOOD WILL BE ON HIS OWN HEAD. (5) He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning; HIS BLOOD WILL BE ON HIMSELF. But had he taken warning, HE WOULD HAVE DELIVERED HIS LIFE.
(6) But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are NOT WARNED, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but HIS BLOOD I WILL REQUIRE FROM THE WATCH MAN’S HAND.’ (7) “Now as for you, son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel; so YOU WILL HEAR A MESSAGE FROM MY MOUTH AND GIVE THEM WARNING FROM ME
(8) When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and YOU DO NOT SPEAK TO WARN the wicked from his way, THAT WICKED MAN SHALL DIE in his iniquity, but HIS BLOOD I WILL REQUIRE FROM YOUR HAND. (9) But if you on your part WARN A WICKED MAN TO TURN FROM HIS WAY and he DOES NOT TURN from his way, HE WILL DIE in his iniquity, BUT YOU HAVE DELIVERED YOUR LIFE.
