Romans 12:1-2
¹Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. ²And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the wif God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
The apostle here calls on the Romans (and on us!), as his brethren in Christ, to present our bodies as a living sacrifice to Him.
Every day we receive His love and His mercy.
Let us give ourselves completely to Him.
▪︎ All that we are,
▪︎ all that we have,
▪︎ all that we can do.
And give it in such a way that it is acceptable to God.
This is not something very special, no, it is our reasonable service to God.
You are able, and you should be ready to give this service to your Lord. Are you?
Conversion and sanctification are results of the renewing of the mind; a change, not of your substance, but of your qualities.
The progress of sanctification is:
▪︎ more and more dying to sin,
▪︎ more and more living to righteousness,
till it is perfected in glory.
Conformity to this world is the great enemy to this renewal.
Take heed of plans for happiness, in the things of this world, which will soon pass away.
Do not fall in the customs of the lusts of the flesh, and mind earthly things.
The work of the Holy Spirit first begins in understanding, and is then carried on to the will, affections, and conversation, till there is a change of the whole man into the likeness of Jesus, in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness.
1 Peter 1:16
It is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
▪︎ It is your reasonable service to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice to God.
▪︎ It is your reasonable service to give up yourselves to God.
Are you willing to follow your Lord, and serve Him?
