John 1:1-2
¹In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ²He was in the beginning with God.
It began with the Word, and we, the followers of the Christ, we Christians, are without the Word of God no more than any other religion.
In 1 Peter 1:23 it is written that when you are born again, born from above, ²³you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.
So the born again Christian is born from above through the word of God.
This tells us also that we need the Word of God for our survival, and to live a fulfilling life.
When you are busy, your time for prayer and Bible reading may one day be shortened a bit, and after some time again a bit, and again, till you come to the point to skip it now and then.
But you absolutely need to take time to fellowship with God, to pray, and to read the Word of God.
God started with the Word, and so should we.
In Dutch we have a saying “Een goed begin is het halve werk” which in English means as much as: “A good start is half the work”
The way you start something has influence on how you will finish it.
If you you make it your habit to start your day with prayer and reading the Bible, your chances to get a deeper understanding of His Word are significantly better than when you don’t.
