Read: Ezekiel 34:1-12
In a world where God is not taken into account, the law of the strongest always applies, but in the Kingdom of God, so also in the world where God comes to His dominion, a completely different law applies: the law of the weakest!
It may surprise us, but the Bible is full of it!
But because it is so hard for us to believe that God Himself wants to be our Judge in our weakness, we often still try to be strong:
▪︎strong in faith,
▪︎strong in zeal,
▪︎strong in prayer,
▪︎and keep going.
With the use of all our possibilities, we try to maintain church order and doctrine with a strong hand. We dare not be weak and expect everything, absolutely everything, from God.
Hence this word of warning to the shepherds!
Shepherds may well eat the meat, and clothe themselves with the wool that comes from the flock, but only if they understand their task and really lead the flock!
However, nothing came of this:
▪︎you do not strengthen the weak….,
▪︎you do not bind up the wounded….
▪︎But you rule over them with harshness and violence…”
The consequences are inevitable:
“My sheep wander about…with none to ask or look for them,” except robbers, who round them up for their own sake!
What a clear picture of our times.
How many people with a sectarian spirit manage to gather many around them,
because the souls of the believers in the church often do not find spiritual food?!
But God does not forget His wandering sheep!
“Behold, I Myself will ask for My sheep and look after them!”
Let us thank God for His Spirit, who will guide us into all truth, so that we no longer depend on apostate shepherds!
