Luke 14:22
And the slave said,
‘Master, what you commanded has been done,
and still there is room.’
Those words also apply to you, who read this.
They are in effect for you today, as the voice of the Lord cries out to you.
There is room in the kingdom of heaven,
there is room for the mercy seat of God.
Yes, there is room for the loving heart of the compassionate Saviour, for all who desire it.
He does not cease to insist that we draw near.
He, Jesus, the Christ, who has prepared and kept the place open for us, assures us as the true Witness, who cannot lie.
Were it not Himself who assures us, we might doubt.
We could say: ‘No, I do not belong there, I am too bad for that, I have resisted too long for that.’
But now we cannot make those excuses, because they are basically just excuses.
Now we know that it is such, as we are whom He calls,
who stayed behind so long because they were too blind to see Him.
Those who wandered too far to hear His call,
Or too poor to believe in riches.
He calls you, even today.
Harden not your hearts against His invitation!
Or have you already come to Him?
Do you already know Him, as the great Physician?
Then let your life bear witness to it.
