Matthew 11:28-30
²⁸Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. ³⁰For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Devotional
True rest comes from knowing God.
King David reminds us of this in Psalm 23.
Jesus makes it clear again.
- Only Jesus can fully reveal God to us.
- Only Jesus can take away the burden of seeking to please God without an understanding of grace.
- Only Jesus can remove the burden of our past sins and enable us to stand holy, blameless, and free from accusation before God Almighty.
Colossians 1:21-22
²¹And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, ²²yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach.
Prayer suggestions
- Thank your heavenly Father for sending Jesus to fulfill the Law and to bless you with His grace.
- Thank your heavenly Father for lifting the burdens of your sinfulness and failures
- Ask your heavenly Father to empower you to serve Him with joy and gladness
