Matthew 9:36
But when he saw the multitudes,
he was moved with compassion on them,
because they fainted,
and were scattered abroad,
as sheep having no shepherd.
Devotional
Sheep without a shepherd.
Have you ever seen that?
That will be chaos.
When sheep are not led, they wander in all directions.
This is how Jesus sees the people in His environment.
Didn’t they have shepherds?
Yes, but they were false shepherds!
Thieves and murderers.
Even today they are there in abundance.
▪︎ Leaders who mislead the people.
▪︎ Shepherds who lead the sheep astray.
And many are deceived bye them … for ever.
That cannot leave us indifferent.
He who knows the Christ, also has something of the mercy of the Good Shepherd.
So we may have hope for the many, far away and nearby, who do not yet know Him. When we ourselves have been sought, and found, by Him, like a wandering sheep, then the other – however far astray – can still be brought to His glory.
This is absolutely possible, because there is a Shepherd Who seeks the lost.
