Matthew 5:16 NASB
Let your light shine before men
in such a way that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Devotional
It is a great miracle to be a child of the light, to have received light, Divine, heavenly light,
▪︎ through which you saw your guilt and sin and see it more and more.
▪︎ By which the virtues of God were engraved in your soul.
So, that you saw, in some measure, who God is, whereby the glory of the Christ was revealed to you, and He dwelt in your heart by faith.
But that is not an end in itself.
That’s not really what it’s about.
That you are converted and saved.
Why then?
That your Father which is in heaven be glorified.
That is also the deepest longing of the new life.
How is that possible?
“Let your light shine,” saith the Lord.
Don’t keep it under a bushel.
Don’t live below your means.
For whom?
For the people, that they may see your good works.
Because that cannot be hidden.
That will and must be seen.
If Christ dwells in you, reigns in you.
Then His Spirit will dwell and work in you.
And that light shines out.
Where this light shines, others are won to Christ and God is glorified.
