Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Repent! The call to true repentance and conversion should not be missing in preaching today either.
In imitation of John the Baptist, an honest, discovering, terrifying and soul-humiliating sermon should at times be delivered.
▪︎ True repentance is necessary if it is to be good for eternity.
▪︎ An all-encompassing change must take place.
▪︎ There must be true penance and repentance.
▪︎ Breaking ties with sin, the world, and the devil.
▪︎ A broken heart and a defeated mind.
Do not rely on outward things like the Pharisees and the Sadducees did.
A little religiosity, sacrifice, and zeal is not enough.
Tears for the consequences of sin, are not the same as tears for sin itself.
Crushing of the heart and a cry from the deep are indispensable.
By nature we are enemies of true repentance.
But it pleases the Lord to make use of the folly of preaching.
▪︎ According to His good pleasure He brings into life deep desolation in order to save,
▪︎ He makes poor to make rich
▪︎ and makes unconverted to truly repent.
