Matthew 2:16 NASB
Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.

Devotional

Satan always has tried to prevent the birth of the Savior.
▪︎ To this end, the boys had to be thrown into the Nile.
▪︎ We also see the hand of Satan in Haman’s plan to kill all the Jews.
▪︎ Now that the Savior is born, Satan wants to kill Him.
But this didn’t work.

The Lord has not allowed His work to be broken.
The Child was spared. It would not die until His hour had come.

Herod died shortly after the infanticide after a terrible illness and great pain, and has come into eternal pain, where all the enemies of God will come.

But the subjects of the Prince of Peace shall come in eternal glory, in spite of all the wiles of Satan.

They will share in the victory of Christ.
