We saw His star in the east, and have come to worship Him
Among the first to come for maternity visits are the Magi from the East.
Balaam’s colleagues! Men who want to read the course of history and the future from the stars! If they were alive today, they would make a living writing horoscopes!
God has forbidden the reading of the stars for Israel.
Yet He uses it to declare the good news to them!
So that’s how they came.
They saw the star from Jacob that Balaam spoke about.
But unlike Balaam, they followed the star and came to Jerusalem to see Him close to.
Many attempts have been made to explain or observe this star.
Pointless! For the star was not intended to direct our attention to itself, but to the born King of the Jews.
Those wise men understood that.
And as the firstfruits of the heathen nations, they express what the star wills of us:
“We have come to worship Him.”
