Matthew 1:2 NASB
Abraham was the father of Isaac,
Isaac the father of Jacob,
and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.
Study
In Matthew 1:2-6 we see the ascending line from Abraham to the kingship of David.
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are the patriarchs of Israel.
That the brothers are mentioned only in Matthew 1:2 and verse 11 is probably because of the turning point in history that took place here.
The reason in this case is that the blessing no longer rested on one person, but on all twelve sons of Jacob.
Judah and his brothers are the origin of the house of Israel, the twelve-tribe people (Matthew 10:6; 19:28).
Matthew wants to give a summary of the history of Israel with the genealogy (see Matthew 1:17).
