Matthew 05:11
Blessed are ye,
when men shall revile you, and persecute you,
and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely,
for my sake.
Devotional
Christ is my strength in every trial.
THE Christian life is not easy.
Christ never sought to hide from those who would be among His followers and tried to make Him stumble. He never hid for the hazards of the way.
Indeed, He said that discipleship involved a cross: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
Jesus Himself had to face and endure the storms of persecution. He was hunted by those who sought to destroy Him. “The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.”
That which is worth having is worth suffering for.
Saints and martyrs down the centuries have faced fire, dungeon, and sword rather than deny Christ or give up their faith in Him. The challenge is now ours to be of the same spirit and count it all joy to suffer for Christ’s sake.
Trials and tribulations in the cause of Christ are to be faced and overcome in His strength. Through Him we can have this victory.
