Mark 10:25 AV
It is easier for a camel
to go through the eye of a needle,
than for a rich man
to enter into the kingdom of God.
The reason for this expression of the Lord Jesus is found in the history of the rich young man.
He had come to Jesus with the question: Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
The answer had been sobering. He did not have to do anything for that, but had to leave something. He had to give up all his wealth and follow Him as a poor sinner in himself.
And that was the only thing he could not or did not want.
To get into the realm of God’s grace, we have to lose a lot, because the gate is narrow and the way is narrow that leads to life.
We cannot pass through the narrow gate of regeneration, surrounded by the projections of our wisdom, self-righteousness, and righteousness, but must first become an unclothed sinner before God.
Easier a camel passes through the eye of a needle than a rich man can enter into the kingdom of God.
Certainly …
▪︎ it is a narrow way that we have to go
▪︎ it is a way that is not suitable for carrying a lot of luggage
▪︎ it is one that goes against our feelings
▪︎ it is a way against flesh and blood,
but it also the only way to come to the Father; it is also the only way to learn to get rid of everything that is only ballast for us, everything that prevents us from entering.
