Mark 6:42 (AV)
And they did all eat,
and were filled.
With the Lord there is no shortage.
With Him is abundance.
And that abundance is in His blessing.
For the disciples did not have much to feed that great crowd.
Five thousand men and no more than five loaves and two little fishes. What do you do with that against such a crowd? Nothing.
If we start calculating, we will fall short.
We can figure it out as much as we want, but we will never end up having enough.
And behold, Jesus broke the bread and blessed it.
Under His blessing and having passed through His hands there is plenty.
In the same way His body was broken for us, and in Him there is an abundance of the bread of life for us!
The blessing of the Lord makes rich, says Solomon, and He adds no sorrow with it.
Then there is not only enough, not just enough, no, then there is plenty!
Because they picked up some after the meal.
Some? They collected twelve full baskets!
Even the leftovers are Abundance.
There was enough to satisfy all!
Remember this?
Mark 7:27-28
²⁷And He was saying to her, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
²⁸But she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.”
Well even for the dogs (the non-jews) there is plenty. Twelve full baskets!
You will never be short with the Lord.
Happy is he who dares to follow Him for time and for eternity.
They will not be ashamed who expect it of Him.
Never talk about it sparingly, for He gives generously.
